KFS’s Family Services Department is composed of four main sub-departments: Family Support, Family Assessment, Roots, and Supervised Access Visits.

The Disability Tax Aid program assists people who have Persons With Disability (PWD) designation, and others with multiple barriers (PPMB), and low-income individuals with free tax preparation for up to 10 years back. The Employment Services program provides support for clients seeking employment, and skills-development, and upgrading. Our strategy aims to meet the Indigenous Skills and Employment Training Strategy by being both client and employer-driven. We network with employers to optimize opportunities for employers to attract, retain, and develop careers for urban-Indigenous Peoples in the Kelowna area.

Our Elder Activities program centres around a culturally appropriate wholistic approach that focuses on achieving and maintaining wellness through the balanced teachings of the Medicine Wheel. Services include: assistance with obtaining health care and contact with Indigenous Patient Navigator; assistance with income supports and applying for these supports; access to mental health services; and finding or maintaining housing through a series of our wrap-around services. Activities for Elders include: monthly Elders’ Luncheons, attending the annual Elders’ Gathering, Elders’ Picnic, medicine picking, yoga, and other activities.
