Elder Services

Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society’s Elder Services Program supports Indigenous Elders through personal connections, cultural activities, and community gatherings. We create opportunities for Elders to engage, share their knowledge, and build community with dignity, respect, and inclusion across many cultures that have lived on Turtle Island for generations.

What We Offer

  • Personal support, advocacy, and referrals for Elders

  • Monthly Elders Council meetings and community luncheons

  • Elders-led activities such as crafts, bingo, karaoke, picnics, kayaking, boat rides, and medicine harvesting trips

  • Cultural and land-based learning opportunities

  • Community events that bring together Elders, family, and friends

  • Informational workshops (health topics, emergency preparedness, and more)

  • Monthly event calendars and quarterly newsletters (available at reception or by email)

  • Fundraising activities organized by Elders to support event costs

Who Can Access Elder Services

  • Indigenous individuals aged 55 and older (following the Syilx Okanagan Nation’s Elder definition)

  • While we prioritize Indigenous Elders, some activities are open to all community members to foster inclusivity
